    Description: In August, 2009, the California Attorney General’s filed an action against the company alleging that they used illegal and abusive tactics to collect debts on high interest loans. On August 24, 2009, the company entered into a stipulated settlement agreement to resolve all of the allegations.

    The stipulation prohibits the company from using abusive debt collection practices including calling late at night and from making threats of law enforcement action. The court-ordered judgment also prohibits the company from engaging in deceptive adverting and it requires them to pay $1 million in civil penalties and legal expenses. The settlement agreement was reached without admission of wrongdoing by the company for the purpose of settlement.
